Today there was one pre-Ph.D. presentation of a Ph.D. scholar. She has presented ~30 single crystal data as if she has done herself. When one person asked her whether she refined the data isotropically or anisotropically, she simply could not reply. She has no idea. Fortunately, she is student of my colleague which whom I am sharing my office and lab. So far, I have not seen her solving any crystal or studying conformational analysis or preparing so many derivatives! She was just talking about the absolute structure of molecule in solution and polymorphism based on simple HNMR (based on chemical shift of ~0.07 ppm!) and single crude CD measurements. Science/research is so simple for them! Interestingly no body here bothers about the scientific contents. They judge everything based on caste and closeness with selected people etc. My feeling is that this place is just a degree factory. Within a short span of 4 months two Ph.D. student submitted their thesis under this guy who is just two years senior than me. Even with my limited knowledge, I feel shocking; the quality of work or attitude towards research. They simply use these research mask either for their promotion or for money making.

First day

There are many things to write but not knowing how to start. Anyway, just created this blog site. Hope that I will soon start filling my page and be fond of sharing thoughts.
